The past Saturday March 8th, Team Ultimate was competing over the border in Buffalo. Unfortunately 2 out of our 4 athletes had their fights cancelled last minute.
Of the 2 athletes who competed, here’s how each of their bouts played out:
Amanda M
Amanda fought very well! It was her first fight against an opponent with 3 fights under her belt already. Amanda showed good solid technique and an incredible head defense. However she did not throw enough strikes to win the judges favor. Amanda lost by just 1 round (29-28). Her technique showed and she inflicted more damage on her opponent than was received by her. With the first fight nerves out of the way, making Amanda more relaxed int he next bout, expect an incredible showing from her!
Alex B
Alex fought an opponent with several in house fights, and his opponent had a 10 pound weight advantage. Alex used good timing on his low kicks to slow down the punches of his opponent. This fight was a good showing of kicks versus punches. Alex kept a good head defense throughout the later rounds and a solid stance. This allowed him to place his low kicks firmly on his opponent’s leg, forcing him to reset and not get too many strikes off. Alex won his match by a decision!
